Fundrasing Party featuring director Hilton Carter of Fresh Kill
April 23rd, 2009
7:00pm until 10:00pm

Everyone knows that Like the Spice loves all the arts. That's why we're always so pleased when we get a chance to work with film! And we especially like directors that are up and coming. They're so much more fun.

Like the Spice is thrilled to be hosting this fundraising party for director Hilton Carter, half of the talented videomaking duo Fresh Kill. Hilton has been busy directing shorter pieces like commercials and music video, but now he's thinking big. He's finally decided to take a stab at a long form narrative, and this film will be the start of his new direction. We couldn't be happier to have him here during this transitional stage in his career.

The film is based in the mid 80's and is about a dysfunctional African-American family in Baltimore, during the height of the crack epidemic. Playing with the line between satire and true life, this film will touch those who went through it and open the eyes of those who weren't aware of it at all. Come out on April 23rd to meet Hilton Carter and learn more about the film. Check out the Fresh Kill blog to learn more!

Hilton Carter is an artist/filmmaker who received his BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and his MFA in film at Art Center College of Design. He has directed commercials for large corporations like LG and Verizon and has directed many music videos for artists around the United States.
