Like the Spice Gallery artMRKT San Francisco 2012

Like the Spice was established in June of 2006, with a focus on the encouragement of emerging contemporary artists. For the past six years, the gallery has hosted over 60 solo and group exhibitions in our space at 224 Roebling Street, between S 2nd and S 3rd, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. While pushing our limits to find new and exciting artists and innovative directions, we have also hosted special projects and installations, taking our artists to such venues such as the 92Y Tribeca, Chelsea Art Museum, The Roger Smith Hotel, Scope Art Fair, The Affordable Art Fair and several private collector functions. Like the Spice has worked to promote our artists not only in our New York location, but also by reaching out nationally and internationally to galleries in cities worldwide.
As the owner/director/curator, Marisa Sage of Like the Spice promotes art that carries both meaning and beauty, encouraging artists to push their limits and find new directions in their work. An openness to sometimes challenging work has brought work that is resonating, not just hanging to our gallery walls.. From pencil and oil to sculpture and video; our paintings are fresh and our digital art is not just about the pixels. Additionally, Like the Spice promotes total collector immersion in each artist's career and work. To do this we have created innovative ways to include each collector in the activities of the gallery, by using monthly artist dinners, quarterly studio tours, invitation-only events and even collector- specific functions. Like the Spice is devoted to working with emerging and established collectors, from their first piece to their 500th piece.

As of June 22nd, 2012, Like the Spice Gallery will be leaving the constraints of 224 Roebling St. to expand into numerous locations, shows, and events throughout the United States and abroad. As we look for a new location we will continue to maintain our website, blog, and monthly newsletters, keeping all of you abreast of what is next to come for Like the Spice Gallery. In the works already is a tremendous group exhibition at the 92YTribeca, artist studio tours in Fall 2012 and Spring 2013, pop up exhibitions across the world (locations to be announced summer 2012), and various independent projects by Like the Spice Gallery artists.
